Take your 4th Grade class back in time with our living history guides as we explore real gold mines.
Meet your living history guides as they get ready to take you through a fun filled adventure through the history of the California gold rush, and a develop a stronger relationship with our savior Jesus Christ.
- Walk along the shores of a creek as you learn about placer mining and how to find gold in the nooks and cranny's of a river's bedrock.
- Follow the quartz vein from the river into the side of the mountain, where a gold miner started a dog hole or coyote hole over 150 years ago.
- Step into Gold Bug Mine as your students and parents learn about hard rock mining.
- Examine the ore cart full of today's hard work, and the hanging fuses ready to set free the gold that might be hiding just out of reach.
- Step into the Priest Mine and notice the differences between it and Gold Bug Mine. Look up the air shaft and picture all the work that went into making it like it is today.
- Hike to the top of the hill, and take a bids eye view of the Vulture Claim from years gone by.
- Grow stronger in your Christian faith as your guides help connect biblical stories and verses with current examples from all around us.
