Explore Marshall Park!

Your 4th Grade class will come face to face with California History at Marshall Park
We'll take a hike (wear your comfortable shoes) all around the first major gold discovery site of California: John Sutter's Mill, which was being built by James Marshall. As we travel through Marshall Gold Discovery Sate Historic Park we'll:
- Learn how gold was discovered and see the tail race where James Marshall discovered one of the first small pieces of gold that eventualy lead to the California Gold Rush.
- See a sawmill replica, where we can picture what it would have looked like and been like building it so many years ago.
- Listen to stories from the gold rush, and learn how merchants were one of the ones that really struck it rich.
- Examine mining equipment that was brought over from around the world including hydraulic monitors, mill stones, and stamp mills.
- See James Marshall's cabin and enjoy the view from his monument overlooking the Coloma CA valley.
- We'll even take a look at the old Coloma jail. It's a little run down, so don't plan on locking anyone up
- And most importantly we'll stop and spend a nice quiet time in God's creation as we rest and let everyday life hustle and bustle fade away.
